A well-trained dog can change your life.

We teach dog owners how to train their dogs so they can live a balanced & enjoyable life together.

The Process

Acknowledgement is the first step. Whether you’re experiencing problematic behaviours with your adolescent dog that you want to counter-condition before they become in-built, have long-term problems with your adult dog, or you simply want to learn how to train your puppy in the correct way, acknowledging the importance of quality training is the initial step. The impact this can have on your lifestyle with your dog is invaluable.

01. Book a call with us

We offer a free ten minute call, with our head trainer to chat about your dog and what you’re hoping to achieve by having them trained with us. We’ll get to know you and build an understanding of your concern and goals before we proceed with the next steps.

02. Initial Consult

Canine Theory & Practical

The initial consultation phase is crucial so that we can assess your dog and their unique needs. This means we, and you, will begin to learn how to view the world the way your dog sees it, so that we can work against certain behaviours and reinforce the positive ones. You will walk away from this phase with some initial practical skills that will prepare you for ongoing training.

The theory element of this phase takes place via a webcall where we will further address your concerns in-depth and begin to teach you about canine behaviour and what it is your dog might be experiencing. We will ask questions to get to know and understand your pet’s pack (i.e. their family and lifestyle), so that we can move into the next phase of the consultation well-equipped.

Once the theory has been completed, we are prepped and ready to step into the practical phase of the initial consultation. In the practical, one of our highly-skilled and experienced trainers will come to your home and provide an in-person assessment of your dog. This step is crucial, as your perception of your dog’s behaviours might be inaccurate (which is very common). Our trainers will be able to utilise the information learned during the theory, in tandem with their knowledge and experience, to assess your dog and provide you with a deeper understanding of what’s at play and what needs to be addressed.

03. Training Plan

After both elements of the initial consultation have been completed, your trainer will provide you with a plan that will be the most beneficial for your dog, keeping all your concerns in mind. This proposal will look different for everyone, as each dog is unique. For some, it might be a full 12 week training program. For others, it might be a shorter series of single sessions.

It is all dependent on the elements that need counter-conditioning, or taught from scratch. When we arrive at a plan that feels good for everyone involved, we get started on teaching you the tools so you can have a happier lifestyle with your dog.

04. Service Assessment

This is not for training.

Our Service Assessment is designed to help us determine which of our services will best suit your pet’s needs. During the assessment, which lasts between 1 to 4 hours, we'll pick up your pet and take them for walks, travel in one of our fully equipped vehicles, and perform various evaluations. Along the way, we’ll learn more about your pet’s preferences and make tailored recommendations for the services that will benefit them most.

Simply book a 30-minute window for us to come to your home for the pet collection and a quick meet and greet.

Our Ethos

After years working with the British Royal Army Veterinary Corps, Head Trainer and Founder Ryan wanted to utilise his learned experience and skillset to assist the most common canine around: the domesticated dog. Humans and dogs have had relationships for thousands of years, but without obtaining the right knowledge or skills this bond can become fraught, and the power to change this is, ultimately, in the hands of the owner.

Ryan knows dogs have immense knowledge, and when harnessed correctly, their abilities are truly incredible. For the average dog owner, the wants and needs tend to be fairly simple: good behaviours, loose lead walking, strong recall skills, obedience, and more. While every dog is different, and no two will experience the same path to learning, no dog is untrainable. It’s up to dog owners to obtain the required knowledge so they can train their dog to behave in a desired manner.

As people, we see and understand the world in a certain way, but this isn’t entirely valuable when it comes to training a dog. To put it simply, it all comes down to understanding how your dog views the world. Once this understanding is unlocked, the tools become available and the journey to a worry-free life with your dog can begin.

Ryan and his team have the skills and knowledge to impart, and that’s what the Chevron ethos is all about. Our trainers work with you to better understand your dog and their unique wants and desires, so that we can assist with counter-conditioning unwanted behaviours and reinforcing good ones. A well-trained dog comes through consistency, correct use of training tools and determination – once that’s all mastered, it can change your life.

Our Services

Expert customised accompanying services to meet your pack and dogs needs.

Training

As skilled trainers, we pass on our knowledge and expertise to you. Personalised training aims to counter-condition behaviour problems, prevent future behaviours from arising, and to nurture your dog’s unique needs.

These services are available after an initial consultation.

1:1 Package

After our initial consultation where we meet you and assess your dog, we provide a personalised 1:1 training package with your goals in mind. These packages are designed with consistency at the forefront and focus on your dog and the areas that need training and attention.

We work with you through each session, teaching you skills through demonstration. At the end of the package, we think you’ll see improvements in your dog’s behaviour once you’ve mastered the tools we offer and you’ll have the confidence to ensure unwanted behaviours are kept at bay.

Single Sessions

After your initial consultation, you may book in a single session, which is a focused session designed to address areas of concern for your dog. This might be jumping up on guests, failed recall, etc.

In these 1:1 training sessions we aim to combat behavioural issues by demonstrating our training and imparting our knowledge so you can feel confident in carrying on these skills after we walk out the door.

Group Learning Environment

These offerings are designed so you and your dog can learn how to best interact in a controlled setting. We provide an environment that is supported and allows you to practise focus around high-level distractions, so that we can work to improve obedience, reinforce good behaviours, discourage negative ones, and build skills through consistency and confidence.

Coffee Club

Most dog-owners dream of being able to take their dog out for a cuppa and have them lay quiet and relaxed by their feet. Our group coffee clubs are a great way to learn impulse-control and calming techniques. Our skilled trainers are on hand to help teach the skills so your dog can settle in busy locations.

Pack Walks

When we walk our dogs in new places, there are lots of external factors that we need to be ready to face. Pack walks are a space where fellow owners and their canine friends can  stretch their legs and learn how to handle sets of unforeseen circumstances as they pop up. These walks are led and guided by one of our skilled trainers.

Doggy Day Out

Not your typical dog-daycare, Doggy Day Out is an action-packed service that keeps your dog entertained all day long. We offer contactless pick-up and take your dog to all their favourite places: dog parks, the beach, Petbarn, with walking and on-the-fly training to maintain mental stimulation and enrichment, and ensure they’re well-exercised. A contactless drop-off is offered at the end of the day for your convenience. Please note Doggy Day Out is not a training service, though our training skills are utilised to ensure the day runs smoothly.
